Background: Funds have been allocated to the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation for the purchase of the BullEx Fire Extinguisher Training Program to be utilized by Columbus Fire and Emergency Medical Services. The Fire Prevention Division will use the equipment to train citizens of Columbus on how to properly/safely use a fire extinguisher. The BullEx Program is environmentally safe; past extinguisher training called for the use of class A materials and an accelerant to produce fire for extinguishment. The BullEx Program uses advanced laser technology to simulate the discharge of a fire extinguisher for a completely clean, safe and cost effective training experience. Fire extinguisher training can now be conducted indoors as well as outdoors; allowing for a greater number of citizens to be trained. Citizens can now be trained in schools, workplaces, or anywhere emergencies may occur. The training system collects data allowing for immediate trainee feedback to ensure fire extinguisher proficiency.
