Agenda Report # 04

TO: Mayor and Council

SUBJECT: Donation of two exercise bikes to Gallops Senior Center

INITIATED BY: Parks and Recreation

Recommendation: Approval is requested to accept one Sunny Health and Fitness Indoor Cycling Bike and one Sunny Health and Fitness Magnetic Recumbent Bike that will be purchased and donated by members of Gallops Seniors Center.

Background: Members of Gallops Senior Center have requested to spend approximately $400.00 to purchase two exercise bikes for the center’s weight room. Seniors can benefit tremendously from regular exercise. Seniors have even more to gain than younger people by becoming more active because they are at higher risk for the health problems that physical activity can prevent.

Analysis: Parks and Recreation is requesting to receive the two exercise bikes purchased by the Gallops Senior Center Members to use in the center for all participants.

Financial Considerations: This will be at no cost to the City as it is a private donation.

Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: N/A

Legal Considerations: Council must approve this donation.

Recommendations/ Actions: Approve the purchase and donation of the two exercise bikes to be used by all participants who visit Gallops Senior Center.
