SUBJECT: Lease Agreement – 4505 Buena Vista Road

Recommendation: Approval is requested to sign a lease renewal with Columbus Bank and Trust (CB&T) for the police precinct located at 4505 Buena Vista Road for $1 per year for a period of five (5) years. (See attached lease agreement)

Background: The Columbus Police Department leases approximately 695 square feet of the building located at 4505 Buena Vista Road owned by Columbus Bank and Trust (CB&T). The space has been utilized as a police precinct since February 2010, and the lease expires on February 15, 2016.

Analysis: The Columbus Police Department currently occupies the space that 4505 Buena Vista Road. The lease renewal will be for five (5) additional years with the exact same terms as the original lease.

Financial Considerations: The rent will be $1 per year and will be paid for out of the general fund budget.

Legal Considerations: Any lease agreement involving the City requires Council approval.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO SIGN A LEASE RENEWAL WITH COLUMBUS BANK AND TRUST (CB&T) FOR THE POLICE PRECINCT LOCATED AT 4505 BUENA VISTA ROAD FOR $1 PER YEAR FOR A PERIOD OF FIVE (5) YEARS.

WHEREAS, the Columbus Police Department currently utilizes approximately 695 square feet of the building located at 4505 Buena Vista Road as a police precinct for $1 per year; and,

WHEREAS, the current lease expires on February 15, 2016, and Columbus Bank and Trust (CB&T) and the Columbus Police Department are both requesting a renewal of this lease; and,

WHEREAS, the lease renewal will have the same terms as the original lease agreement; and,

WHEREAS, the rent will be $1 per year for a period of five (5) years.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to sign a lease renewal with Columbus Bank and Trust (CB&T) for the police precinct located at 4505 Buena Vista Road in accordance with the terms set forth above.
