Background: The city was contacted in February 2018 by the legal counsel for Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P. regarding property located adjacent to Johnson Mill Loft Apartments that was mistakenly deeded to the City as a Deed of Gift by the original developer. They are requesting that the City quit claim this property back to the current owner. The portion that they are requesting is approximately .28 acres located within 2 South Gordon Blvd (007 001 002), which belongs to the city. A portion of their parking lot is located on this parcel. (See attached plat and map). Analysis: This request has been reviewed by the City’s Engineering Department and it has been determine that quit claiming this portion of property back to Johnston Mill Lofts, L.P. will not have any impact on the riverwalk. This property is already being utilized as a parking lot by the Johnston Mill Loft Apartments. Financial Considerations: There will be no financial impact to the City as a part of this transaction. Legal Considerations: Council must approve all real estate transactions.
