SUBJECT: Wynnton Road Streetscapes Local Government Lighting Project Agreement

INITIATED BY: Planning Department


Recommendation:Approval is requested to enter into a Local Government Lighting Project Agreement (LGLPA) with the Georgia Department of Transportation (GDOT) for purpose of providing the energy, operation and maintenance of the lighting system that will be installed under the Wynnton Road Streetscape Project from Brown Avenue and 13th Street.

Background: Wynnton Road, between Brown Avenue and 13th Street, is scheduled for streetscapes improvements later this year. Part of the improvements will be the addition of new lighting along this section of the corridor.

Analysis: Upon the installation of this new lighting, it will be the responsibility of the City to provide the necessary energy, operation and maintenance for this system. This agreement establishes an understanding between the City and GDOT for this purpose.

Financial Considerations: Upon the completion and acceptance of the lighting, it will become the financial responsibility of the city to provide the energy, the operation, and the maintenance of this system.

Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: The city will be responsible for all maintenance and operation associated with this project.

Legal Considerations: The City Attorney has reviewed and approved the agreement form.

A RESOLUTION
NO. _____

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A LOCAL GOVERNMENTAL LIGHTING PROJECT AGREEMENT WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF TRANSPORTATION FOR THE WYNNTON ROAD STREETSCAPES PROJECT.

WHEREAS, the city will enhance the section of Wynnton Road, from Brown Avenue to 13th Street, under a Transportation Enhancement grant from the Georgia Department of Transportation; and,

WHEREAS, the streetscape improvements will provide for new lighting, that will require the city to be responsible for the energy, operation and maintenance of this lighting system.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

That the City Manager is hereby authorized to enter into a Local Government Lighting Project Agreement with the Georgia Department of Transportation for purpose of providing the energy, operation and maintenance of the lighting system to be installed under the Wynnton Road Streetscape project.
