SUBJECT: Department of Driver Services - Memorandum of Understanding

Recommendation: Approval is requested to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Georgia Department of Driver Services for paving and striping of parking lots and tests courses located at the facilities on US 80. The anticipated cost of the project is not to exceed $100,000.

Background: The Georgia Department of Driver Services contacted the Deputy City Manager, Pam Hodge, in reference to utilizing the City's Paving Contract to pave and restripe the parking lot and tests courses at the driver's license building on US 80 in Midland. The funding source became available late in the fiscal year and the funds need to be expended prior to the end of June.

Analysis: The Georgia Department of Driver Services will be responsible for reimbursement of expenses for the project.

Financial Considerations: The anticipated cost of the project is not to exceed $100,000.

Projected Annual Fiscal Impact Statement: There will be no expenses to the City.

Legal Considerations: Council authorization is required for entering into the MOU.

Recommendations/ Actions: Approval is requested to authorize the City Manager to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Georgia Department of Driver Services for paving and striping of parking lots and tests courses located at the facilities on US 80. The anticipated cost of the project is not to exceed $100,000.

A RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE CITY MANAGER TO ENTER INTO A MEMORANDUM OF UNDERSTANDING (MOU) WITH THE GEORGIA DEPARTMENT OF DRIVER SERVICES FOR PAVING AND STRIPING THE PARKING LOTS AND TEST COURSES AT THE FACILITIES LOCATED ON US 80.

WHEREAS, in order to expedite spending of available funds for the paving and striping of the parking lot and test courses prior to the end of the fiscal year, June 30, 2016, the Georgia Department Driver Services has requested to use the City of Columbus contracts for paving and striping; and,

WHEREAS, the MOU provides clarification of the responsibilities of both parties, most notably to include but not limited to, all expenses for the project are the responsibility of the Georgia Department of Driver Services.

NOW, THEREFORE, THE COUNCIL OF COLUMBUS, GEORGIA, HEREBY RESOLVES AS FOLLOWS:

The City Manager is authorized to enter into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Georgia Department of Driver Services for Paving and Striping the Parking Lots and Test Courses at the Facilities located on US 80 in an amount not to exceed $100,000.
